Order & Chaos Online is an MMORPG made by Gameloft. The game itself has 5 different races. Humans and Elves fighting for Order, Orcs and Undead fighting for chaos, and the Mendels having a neutral stance. The object of the game, like all MMOs, is to explore the vast world given to you, and defeat the ultimate evil.
The graphics are bright and vibrant. With a colourful world and cast of characters. While there may not be a ton of detail to each character, the amount of colours used certainly makes up for it. The Framerate barely slows down unless in a big town where so much is happening at once. Otherwise, it runs a smooth frame throughout the game. There are also plenty of special effects put into the game such as spells and skills that add to the look. Nothing feels out of place one bit. The draw distance goes for quite a ways, which is made possible due to the low polygon count. The graphical settings seem to be set to low as when moving throughout the world, you can see the terrain either add or remove detail, as well as the monsters. More often than not, detail gets lost. Overall the game looks great graphically.
There isn’t much for background music, except for the title screen. The game certainly wants you to be more immersed in the environment, which is why the background music starts low, and the sound effects are much louder. The sound effects, although loud, aren’t grating to the ear, and they certainly help distinguish hits and misses when it comes to fighting enemies and exploring the world.
First of all, this is an MMORPG. One of the biggest draws to a game such as this is the community involved. Unfortunately the community is non-existent. As the game is on its own servers specifically made for the OUYA, the community has moved on since the game first showed up. There may be the odd person online, but otherwise the lands are rather barren. The combat can feel a bit slow and the controls take a while to get used to as well. This can lead to frustration if fighting multiple enemies at once. A bug also occurs when selecting an item either before or after a quest is completed. Selecting the desired item can crash the game, forcing you to log in again. While this doesn’t happen every time, this does happen occasionally which can lead to frustration. Thankfully data is saved over the net, so there is never a loss of data.
Order & Chaos is an MMORPG that could be really good if it weren’t for its major issues which can certainly ruin the game for some. While the Graphics look fantastic with its bright and vibrant attire, and the sounds are top notch, the gameplay falls short with its confusing controls, and occasional crashes. On top of that the bigger issue being there is nobody to play with. While this may keep users who like to solo the game on, for those who want to play with someone, this is a deal breaker. If you don’t mind playing an MMORPG as a regular RPG, then certainly go for Order & Chaos. However, if you are looking for a more multi-user engaging MMO, best try another game.
